Gym Etiquette 101

There is something to be said about gym etiquette. I mean I haven't been to the gym in awhile, and upon walking in there today I instantly remembered things I hated. Don't get me wrong ... I love going to work out, but sometimes the people there drive me crazy! In light of this, I have made my own rules for gym etiquette.

  1. Put on deodorant, lots of it if you need to! People do not like the smell of body odor.
  2. Also, if you decide to wear perfume, don't marinate in it.
  3. Please clean the machines when you are done... there is something really gross about having my hands on your sweat!
  4. Just because sports bra's come in all sizes, doesn't mean you shouldn't wear a shirt over it.
  5. Turn the music down. I don't need to know which gangsta rap song you are listening to.
  6. Don't sing out loud.
  7. Don't make your friends do the same workout as you so you can chit-chat. If you can still talk without heavy breathing then you are wasting your time.
  8. Don't stare at people ... it's creepy.
  9. The gym is not a beauty contest. You don't need to come in with perfect hair and perfect make-up. If you leave that way, you wasted your time.
  10. Stop the outrageous grunts. It's not attractive and in fact it's annoying.
  11. Put your weights back. Also, put them back in the correct spot. There is nothing worse than falling flat on your face because you tripped over a weight.
  12. A towel or water bottle is not a reserve sign. Sorry, but you can't go talk to your friend for 15 minutes and expect your machine to still be empty.
